Vegan Wellness Guru Kris Carr Nominated for Shorty Award
Like the Oscars of the internet, the Shorty Awards are kind of a big deal. The annual ceremony honors the best and brightest content producers across a host of mediums, from Facebook to Twitter to Snapchat. Past honorees have included the likes of Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Kimmel, Jerry Seinfeld and lots of other celebs.
And this year, there’s a vegan mastermind in the list of nominees.
Kris Carr, New York Times bestselling author of the Crazy Sexy series, is nominated in the News and Media: Healthy Living category. Scroll down to the section and you’ll find her name alongside Michael Pollan and Stuard Wimbles.
Nothing if not popular, Kris has helped bring a healthy vegan lifestyle into the mainstream with books, her Crazy Sexy Cancer documentary, public appearances and—as demonstrated by the award nomination—a robust social media presence. She has 112,000 Twitter followers, not to mention her fans on Facebook and Instagram.
With her tagline, “Live like you mean it,” Kris has inspired countless people to take the reins in their own lives and thrive under any and all circumstances. Having lived with stage four cancer for over a decade, Kris is a pretty amazing example of wellness and tenacity. She’s also a shining example of plant-based power and compassion for animals (and humans!).
So how does Kris feel about the nomination? She had this to say via Facebook:
Winners are selected by bigwigs from the Real-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences—so regular humans don’t have much of a say—but we can still cheer her on via social media.
