Here Are the Vegan Products Whole Foods Is Offering for the Holidays

From peppermint mochas to spiced ciders, the holiday season brings lots of specialty flavors. Luckily, plant-based eaters are no longer left out of the festivities, as lots of innovative companies are releasing cruelty-free options.

Whole Foods Market (WFM) carries a whole host of holiday-themed foods — some brand new alongside some they’ve been stocking for years. Most stores also offer a full holiday meal for pre-order, too.

The new vegan holiday items at Whole Foods include:

  • Field Roast’s Forager’s Roast
  • Kite Hill Pumpkin Almond Wontons (these are made by the Whole Foods Prepared Foods team in-store, and feature Kite Hill almond-milk cheese in a wrapper made from kamut, an ancient grain)
  • Kite Hill Pumpkin Cheesecake Tart
  • Kite Hill Ricotta Single Serve Cheesecake
  • Ciao Bella Spiced Apple Cider Sorbetto
  • Temple Turmeric Holiday Spiced Lassi
  • Third St. Festivus Organic Holiday Chai (new flavor: Spicy Pumpkin)

So how do they pick and choose their new vegan product additions? “Whole Foods Market carefully evaluates each and every product we sell, using our rigorous quality standards. We believe that food in its purest state is the best tasting and most nutritious food available. That’s why our quality standards for food prohibit hydrogenated fats and artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners or preservatives — and that’s just to start,” says McKinzey Crossland of WFM.

The stores also continues to carry a lot of items they’ve offered in years past. These include:

  • 365 Everyday Value Organic Multigrain Vegan Stuffing Mix
  • 365 Everyday Value Meatless Breakfast Patties (can be used in vegan stuffing)
  • Hilary’s Eat Well Holiday Stuffing
  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts
  • So Delicious Dairy Free CocoWhip
  • Califia Farms Peppermint Mocha Cold Brew Coffee with Almondmilk

As far as a full meal order, most stores are featuring vegan selections as part of their holiday menu pre-order options. Typically, it’s Field Roast’s Forager’s Roast (or Harvest Roast en Croute), with side options like roasted root veggies, Brussels sprouts, maple mashed potatoes, and cranberry orange relish — though sides can vary from region to region.

“All Whole Foods Market stores have a variety of vegan meal options available to order in stores and online that can feed groups of any size,” adds Crossland.
