Vegan Food Truck Festival Kicks Off in New England This Weekend
All over the world, vegan options are getting more impressive — and mobile eateries are no exception. This Saturday, September 12th, a Vegan Food Truck Festival will be kicking off in Cambridge, Mass., showcasing some of New England’s most delicious on-the-go edibles. It is great to see that there will be such a turnout, hopefully, some of these become a staple within the area by creating their own structures to fit in with the landscape. Using websites similar to https://bmarkostructures.com/modular-restaurants/ to find modular buildings that can provide a shelter for this is a good first step for them to take. I bet so many foodies cannot wait to see more vegan options in the street for them to chow down on.
The event, hosted by Food Truck Festivals of America, will have 15 trucks on-site in the city’s Kendall Square, including include Bon Me, Boston Projuice, Chubby Chickpea, Compliments, Dragon Roll Grill, Heritage Truck. Jamaica Mi Hungry, Like No Udder (dairy-free ice cream), Rhythm N’ Wraps, Riceburg, and Sante Mobile Farmhouse.
Menu options will include Asian fusion cuisine, soft-serve non-dairy ice cream, hand pies, juices, and more. As far as libations, the event will have a selection of Samuel Adams and Otter Creek beers.
“Food Truck Festivals of America has created more than thirty food truck festivals over the last four years from Cape Cod to Florida to Albuquerque to Providence,” says Janet Prensky, spokesperson for the organization. “A company that represents a network of local food makers and farms broached the idea of trying a Vegan Food Truck Festival and we took to the idea immediately.”
The trucks are all from the New England area (as a rule Food Truck Festivals of America only uses trucks from within a two hour distance). This event will feature trucks from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and other key towns in the region.
“At all of our festivals we make sure that there are always some vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc., options for attendees, but we were excited to try one that is 100% vegan! And our trucks are excited too. And based on the number of RSVPs we’re seeing on our social media, the public is too!” says Prensky.
The event takes place from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, in Kendall Square in Cambridge, Mass (at the junction of Third Street and Broad Canal Way). Tickets are $5 general admission, $20 for VIP, children under 12 are free. Attendees are advised to purchase tickets in advance via Eventbrite.

Once a month at the SoMa SrtEat food truck park in San Francisco a Very Vegan Sunday occurs–all food trucks serve vegan food for the whole day, and it’s free admission, you just pay for what you eat. Glad to see MA adopting this trend, but wish there was no fee to get in–food truck fare is already pricey, and there’s no parking at the planned location. Let’s keep refining the process so eventually everyone can enjoy!
