Luxury getaways are no longer just a fantasy for vegan vacationers. The Vegan Lodge in Antalya, Turkey, opened its doors last month — and it’s an oasis of cruelty-free comfort.
The new spot — nestled amid groves of olive and pomegranate trees (SWOON 😍) is offering a gorgeous, beachside experience — all for a totally reasonable price.
“I’ve been a vegan for nearly 12 years, and I’ve had a lot of difficulties finding a good selection of vegan food in hotels while on holidays,” says managing partner Emre Dilek.
“As the number of people who choose a vegan lifestyle increases, I wanted to invest and ease the problem for like minded people and develop a business model. On the other hand I also wanted to show that a sustainable holiday which is not harming any species or nature is possible without compromising comfort.”
Dilek and his partners have been working in the travel industry with hotel chains and tour operators for nearly three decades.
“We are located in the Olimpos region where there is no mass tourism. All of the accommodation facilities in the area are small hotels,” says Dilek of the paradisiacal area where they chose to open the resort.
The Vegan Lodge was built on a large lot full of fruit trees. Guests get to stay in a natural green area with bungalows and lofts. “They will have chance to discover Mediterranean vegan food with a nice international touch,” adds Dilek.
If you pay a visit, expect to eat well, obviously! Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style.
For breakfast, the spread included cold and hot food, porridge, vegan omelets, local olives and variety of vegan cheeses. Dinner features a salad buffet, a rich selection of starters, “Mediterranean Mezes”, hot appetizers and main courses. In addition to local the menu offers international products such as tofu and tempeh.
The resort offers daily yoga, and in the future hopes to host vegan food classes.
For such a lush environment, the prices are particularly reasonable. In the low season (March, April, May), prices starts from $35 (USD) per person in a double room. In the high season (June, July, August), a double room starts at approximately $55 (USD).
