Teen Entrepreneur Raises $3M for Vegan Protein Bar
At 18-years-old, most people are barely out of high school and just getting ready to stumble through a wild freshman year in college.
Then there’s Daniel Katz, an 18-year-old food entrepreneur who wakes up at 2:30 a.m. every day and just raised $3M for his line of vegan “No Cow Bars”.
Katz’s company is called D’s Naturals, and its tagline is “No cow. No bull. No whey!”
In addition to the financing (raised from independent angel investors, Cincinnati.com reports) he also just signed with Europa Sports Products—the country’s leading wholesaler for health and fitness products—to distribute the bars.
“Raising three million dollars isn’t easy,” Katz said in a press release about his funding achievement. “I’ve come to realize that when you want something bad enough, anything is possible. People think my visions for this company are unrealistic, and I’m here to prove them wrong.”
The “No Cow Bars” are high-protein. with no added sugar or artificial ingredients. They’re made with organic brown rice, pea proteins, prebiotic fiber, and natural sweeteners including monk fruit and stevia. They’re vegan, all-natural, non-GMO, and free of gluten, dairy, lactose and soy.
The bars are available online and at select retailers. They come in Blueberry Cobbler, Mint Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Cookie Dough.
Katz is a dynamo, and handles all facets of his business singlehandedly. As his most recent press release read: “D manages all aspects of sales, marketing, operations, raw materials/ingredient procurement, accounting, shipping, warehouse management, social media, web design, graphic design, and most importantly press release writing!”
He also said he’ll be launching another line of products in May, as well as bringing on some staff. Cincinnati vegans, be on the lookout for job openings!
