A Convenience Store Guide to Vegan Candy for Easter

As far as vegan candy for Easter is concerned, there are purveyors out there producing some seriously impressive options these days: hand-painted marshmallow bunnies; rainbow-hued vegan jelly beans; luscious (candy!) eggs with rich, creamy fillings.

However, if you haven’t planned ahead for the upcoming holiday, you might be SOL. Most of the vegan bakeries and artisanal candy makers require ordering in advance, so good luck snagging Veeps by Sweet and Sara or a Lucky Bunny basket by Vegan Treats in time for the bunny’s big day.

Luckily, we’re here to help. There’s plenty of accidentally—and intentionally—vegan candy for Easter easily accessible at your local drugstore, 7-Eleven or Trader Joe’s.

So for those who need to stock up on vegan candy for Easter—and fast—here’s the Latest Vegan News’ guide. Because time may be short but cruelty-free candy is a priority.

10. Twizzler’s OR Red Vines
As Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt established at their engagement party, yours is either a Twizzler’s OR a Red Vines family. Luckily, whatever your licorice of choice, both major brands are vegan-friendly.

9. Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Pound Plus
While it’s not likely you’ll find a (vegan) chocolate bunny on short notice, you can still satisfy your chocoholic child. TJ’s massive Pound Plus bar is dairy-free, totally addictive and safe for vegan consumption.

8. Skittles
Jelly Bellys are a no-go (shellac and/or beeswax), but who doesn’t want to eat the rainbow?

7. Justin’s Dark Chocolate Organic Peanut Butter Cups
Let’s be honest—we all miss Reese’s. The good news is, Justin’s are an even more delicious chocolate-peanut buttery alternative, and always in stock at Starbucks (and Whole Foods).

6. Fun Dip
The bright colors of this sugary snack are perfect for springtime and Easter celebrations.

5. Twilight bars
You’ll be pleased to know these have nothing to do with an infamous vampire franchise we might mention. Instead, these mouthwatering treats (made by Go Max Go) are a mix of caramel and chocolately nougat wrapped in a rice milk chocolate coating. Most Whole Foods have them on hand, so stock up.

4. Chocolove, Almonds & Sea Salt in Dark Chocolate Bar
These decadent, delicious bars are the penultimate mix of sweet and salty, and are on the shelves at a lot of specialty grocers.

3. Ring Pops
Young or old, everyone loves rocking edible bling. These forever-in-style accessories come in all kinds of flavors, including special edition chicks and bunnies. Either way, they’re a crowd-pleasing option as far as vegan candy for Easter is concerned.

2. Enjoy Life boom CHOCO boom Rice Milk Chocolate Bar
These chocolatey delights are usually available at Whole Foods, but the company’s product locator is a handy way to find other stores. As an added bonus, all of this company’s chocolate products are gluten free, dairy free, nut free and soy free.

1. Jolly Rancher’s Jelly Beans—Wild Berry
Available at your local Walgreen’s, these colorful treats are accidentally vegan and a perfectly classic addition to any Easter basket.

All in all, it may not be a traditional basket, but it’ll be a compassionate one. Vegan candy for Easter is a win win for everyone involved—and the big bunny would totally approve of your cruelty-free choices.
