Popular outdoor adventure brand Patagonia is setting an example of sustainability by offering used gear as an option on its website, right alongside new items.

A “browse used” button now pops up at the bottom of every page.

The concept is called Worn Wear. They offer an array of Patagonia gear — all used. The website also features “recrafted” clothes, meaning clothes made from other clothes.

You can buy everything from jackets and vests to sweaters and dresses.

The Worn Wear site launched in 2017, and Patagonia started doing pop-up shops in 2019. They’ve reportedly sold more than 120,000 used items. How awesome is that?

“Repairing clothing and keeping gear in play as long as possible has been part of Patagonia’s business model since the 1970s,” Patagonia said in a press release. “Today, Patagonia repairs more than 100,000 items each year in 72 repair centers globally and in Reno — where the company owns and operates the largest apparel repair center in North America.”

For the vegans among us, the brand offers synthetic options as alternatives to down and wool.

There’s also a factory seconds collection.

To participate, you can trade in your used Patagonia items by mail or at their retail stores and get credit towards new or used clothes.
