Madison Square Garden to Go Meat-Free for Morrissey Show
Madison Square Garden is going meat-free, all to please Morrissey. The singer and animal activist is all about living compassion, and he demands nothing less from the venues where he performs.
This June, he has a scheduled appearance at MSG, and he dropped the news about the venue’s edible options in an open letter he wrote to Al Gore this week. It’s confirmed by the legendary NYC landmark.
In the strongly worded letter, Morrissey lambasted the former VP’s foundation, Live Earth, for not serving exclusively vegan eats at its upcoming concerts. He used MSG as an example of concert halls that tailor their food offerings for his appearances.
“Not only is it possible for venues to provide a 100 percent meat-free menu-as is done now at every concert venue in which I perform, including Madison Square Garden, where I have a show at the end of June-it’s also a moral duty,” he wrote.
No word yet on what the food offerings will be, but we’ll keep an ear out.
Morrissey is proof that these demands are doable, and there’s no reason Gore couldn’t do exactly what he’s asking. As Morrissey said in the letter: “Don’t be a denier of the causes of climate change. You know the facts. Make the right choice.”
