Gordon Ramsay Calls Just Mayo ‘ABSOLUTELY Incredible’
Chef Gordon Ramsay is known for a lot of things—Kitchen Nightmares, Michelin stars, screaming at aspiring chefs. But plant-based food? Hardly. In today’s Reddit AMA, however, Ramsay sung the praises of Hampton Creek’s eggless, pea protein-based Just Mayo.
Specifically, he said:
“I was recently sent an amazing array of sauces, and dishes, by a company that didn’t use eggs. The company was called ‘Just Mayo’ but it was done without eggs yet it tasted ABSOLUTELY incredible.”
Not just incredible, he says, but “absolutely incredible.” That’s quite the endorsement from a chef like Ramsay.
Reddit AMAs, for those who haven’t born witness to one, are events where celebrities, experts and other notable figures open themselves up to any and all questions from the Reddit audience. AMA is short for “Ask Me Anything.”
Ramsay’s answer came in response to a question from an amateur chef about substitutes for eggs, butter and cream due to severe allergies.
Others also weighed in about Just Mayo, including user Subclavian who said:
“Just Mayo is incredible. I have an intolerance to dairy, have difficulty with eggs, and a allergy (or something) to soy so having that exist is a God send to me. Having something delicious and something that won’t get me sick is always a great thing for me.”
All in all, an endorsement by a carnivore like Ramsay is testament to the fact that Hampton Creek is changing the world by making sustainable, cruelty-free products that appeal to omnivores and herbivores alike.
Also, we can’t help but wonder what “amazing array of sauces” Hampton Creek sent Ramsay. Perhaps Just Mayo is branching out?

I think he has a long way to go with his so called amateur chef comments and the bizarre attitude he displays in front of people who put up with his nonsense and the reason he acts this way is all the violence in the foods he eats.Really shows in his personality and cooks with anger. This nonsense goes on with people who tolerate his working conditions.Does he do anything at all for the cause other than making a comment he likes the taste of a vegan mayo? Joke…
Hi Michael! It’s true that there seems to be a lot of anger in his cooking—and persona—and that he’s not exactly a supporter of the vegan cause. Buuuuuut honestly, we have to celebrate every small victory. His comment will probably lead to more people buying Just Mayo—a vegan product made by a vegan company. It’s little by little in this battle we’re fighting!
