Farm Sanctuary’s Gene Baur to Appear on The Daily Show
Activist, author, animal-lover extraordinaire and Farm Sanctuary founder Gene Baur will be joining The Daily Show host Jon Stewart for some late-night banter on April 6.
The appearance is in line with the release of Baur’s new book, “Living the Farm Sanctuary Life,” which officially hits stores on April 7.
The book outlines the basic tenets of Farm Sanctuary life, including connecting with nature, reducing stress and helping the environment. Basically, it’s all about living your values—something Gene Baur knows all about.
The animal hero founded Farm Sanctuary back in 1986, and today the organization has locations in Watkins Glen, New York; Northern California (Orland); and the Los Angeles area. The team has rescued thousands of animals, and perpetuates a set of values the world could stand to get behind.
Given that Jon Stewart has frequently skewered the animal agriculture industry, it’s reasonable to suspect he’s sympathetic to the cause.
Just last week, he lambasted California’s leadership for enacting pointless personal water restrictions while completely ignoring the fact that the state’s meat and dairy industries use 47% of the state’s water supply—all in the midst of a horrible drought. (Plus, word on the street is that Stewart’s wife, Tracey McShane Stewart, is vegan.)
Either way, the fact that Gene Baur’s been invited onto the show is yet another sign that veganism is making it to the mainstream. It ought to be an interesting conversation.
The show airs at 11 p.m. ET and PT and 10 p.m. CT on Monday, April 6, on Comedy Central.
