Culinary schools tend to be a no-man’s land for vegans. For most chefs, their in-school training is all about meat, eggs and butter, and boiling lobsters is par for the course.
But Rouxbe is changing all that. The prestigious online cooking school offers a plant-based track for students, so aspiring culinarians don’t have to work with animal products at all.
Rouxbe is serious about their efforts. Late last year they partnered up with popular meat alternative brand Gardein. Now, students are able to access tutorials for recipes incorporating chick’n strips, beefless crumbles and fishless fish fillets.
That’s a worthy cause, given that Farm Sanctuary operates three shelters, cares for nearly 1,000 animals and has helped to change countless minds about the plight of farmed animals.
“Education has always been an important part of our DNA at Farm Sanctuary,” Farm Sanctuary President and Co-Founder Gene Baur told press. “We believe that helping people cook delicious plant-based foods could save millions of animals from cruelty, so we are excited to have partnered with the very best online education partner Rouxbe.”
The partnership makes perfect sense, given that one of the biggest barriers for opting into veganism is a lack of kitchen skills. With the help of Rouxbe’s plant based cooking school, making the transition to a cruelty-free lifestyle can be a whole lot easier.
