Endangered Species Chocolate Releases Vegan Version of Nutella

Endangered Species Chocolate’s vegan Nutella spread.

The chocolately, hazelnutty taste of Nutella goes with, well, everything, but thanks to the added skim milk, it’s a no-go for vegans. Luckily, if you’re craving a Nutella banana sandwich, now you need look no further than your local Whole Foods. Endangered Species Chocolate has created its own vegan version of Nutella, in addition to two other spreadable chocolates.

The new products include the aforementioned hazelnut spread with cocoa, almond spread with cocoa and chocolate spread, all cruelty-free.

The new line is Fairtrade International certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, gluten-free, and 10 percent of the company’s profits goes to support organizations working towards species preservation and habitat conservation.

“This is an extremely exciting time for Endangered Species Chocolate – and for our customers who already know and love our chocolate,” said Kelly Meinken, Director of Marketing for Endangered Species Chocolate in a press release.

“We believe our spreads will appeal to the natural and specialty consumer – as well as general chocolate lovers. Our new clean chocolate spreads are smooth, flavorful and natural – not to mention decadent and delicious.”

Most of the company’s products are vegan, though they do have a few items that contain dairy.

“More than ever before, consumers are putting a focus on snacking,” said Whitney Bembenick, Research and Development Manager for Endangered Species Chocolate in a press release. “Not only do they want something more than the old stand-by granola bar, these consumers demand a snack made with good, quality ingredients. Our new spreads meet this demand and surpass it by providing an indulgent experience that is convenient and can be used in a multitude of ways.”

The spreads will be available at natural food stores and conventional supermarkets nationwide. Better stock up—they’re bound to be popular.
