There’s a vegan Disney prince and he wants to feed you burgers. 🍔🍔🍔 Dreams really do come true!
Mena Massoud, star of Disney’s “Aladdin,” just invested in the rapidly expanding vegan chain, Plant Power Fast Food.
Plant Power has been blowing up Southern California’s food scene since opening its first location in 2016. The menu is similar to an old school fast food joint — burgers, breakfast sandwiches, “chicken” tenders fries, salads, shakes — only everything is vegan.
Now, Plant Power has five locations in California (plus a food truck) and plans to open a bunch more over the next three years.
“I’ve spent a great deal of time touring North America visiting a lot of plant-based restaurants,” Massoud said in a press release. “Plant Power Fast Food immediately stuck out as a big player. They have massive ambitions in the space, and they don’t just outsource their products like many of the other companies in the marketplace. There is great attention to detail, and we share the same outlook, that in order to cause real change, we have to make plant-based living accessible to the masses.”
The actor is also founder of the travel show “Evolving Vegan,” where he highlights yummy vegan eats all over the place. He’s a longtime vegan, and has charmed millions with his singing, dancing, and stunning smile.
“We love what Mena is doing,” says Plant Power Co-founder and Chief Marketing and Communications officer Jeffrey Harris. “He’s the real deal and he shares our concerns about the negative impact that animal agriculture has had on this beautiful planet we all share. We’re also inspired by his advocacy of a plant-based diet for health and well-being. Everyone on our team is thrilled that he’s joined our investor family and we’re grateful for his support during this phase of our expansion.”
The company’s revenue grew 438.4% from 2016 through 2018, so clearly people are all about it! And the founders say that most of the chain’s customers aren’t vegetarian or vegan. “They’re omnivores who are exploring new possibilities,” explains Plant Power Co-Founder and President Mitch Wallis. “Fast food doesn’t have to be unhealthy for our bodies or bad for the planet. We’re here to demonstrate that there’s a better way.”
Here’s hoping there’s a Plant Power on every corner, ASAP! (We could totally use more kind and compassionate Disney princes, too.)
