Heads of state are apparently all over the meatless menus these days. After Israeli President Reuvlen Rivlin hosted his nation’s first-ever vegetarian Independence Day BBQ, China has followed suit. President Xi Jinping hosted an entirely meatless meal for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi this week, reports The Economic Times.
The menu (a picture of which was posted online) included sour and spicy soup with fried dough, assorted vegetables with pancake and red bean rice, bean curd with mushroom, water chestnut in bean sauce, braised asparagus and bamboo fungus with lotus root, noodle dumpling and pancake, fruits and sorbet.
The event was reportedly a departure from the typical protocol. The Economic Times reports that it was a reciprocal gesture from Jinping, who was previously hosted by Modi when he visited India.
Next up, Obama?
