This weekend, New Yorkers have a unique opportunity to learn all there is to know about a plant-based lifestyle. The fourth annual Seed Experience is setting up shop in Brooklyn, and informative talks, food samples, film screenings, cooking demos and more are all on the agenda.
The lineup of speakers includes vegan heavyweights like Dr. T. Colin Campbell of The China Study and Forks Over Knives fame, Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepard, athlete Rich Roll, chef Fran Costigan, reality star Simone Reyes and many, many more.
“The Seed Experience is unique in the world of vegfests because it’s more than just a vegfest,” co-founder Pas Niratbhand tells Latest Vegan News. “Our event has a two part focus; an expo space with vendors and conferences from renowned speakers within the field of plant-based living.”
While many vegfests revolve around already-converted vegans, this event is a little bit different, says Niratbhand.
“Our goal isn’t to preach to the choir per say, but rather, seek out those people who are interested in making changes in their lifestyle but who simply don’t have the necessary information to do so. We’re unique in that we want to bring people and companies together in one space to spread the message of better living through a plant based lifestyle.”
As far as exhibitors and vendors in the expo, The Seed will feature Dandies Vegan Marshmallows, Farm Sanctuary, Gardein, Gone Pie Vegan Bakery, Treeline Cheese, Vegan Publishers and many more on site. There’ll also be screenings: Hungry for Change on Saturday, and PlantPure Nation, the new documentary by T. Colin Campbell and his son, Nelson, on Sunday.
Session subjects and demos include But I’m Not Vegan: Vegan Cooking for an Omnivore; How I Lost 100 Pounds; How to Be Great at Doing Good for Animals; Your Plant Journey to Extreme Health; How to Make Vegan Zombie Pizza Rolls and lots more.
“Attendees can expect to take away boundless knowledge from the world of plant-based living. We have speakers from all walks of life – be they doctors, authors, nutritionists, activists – you name it!” Niratbhand adds. “Attendees will hear stories about people who changed their lives for personal reasons, for ethical reason or for environmental reasons. Our expo offers a 360 view into the world of what it really means to live a plant based lifestyle and what changes one might expect to attain in doing so.”
The Seed Experience runs Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brooklyn Expo Center. Tickets are $30 per day or $50 for the weekend. VIP status is $90. Tickets can be purchased online.
