Beyond Meat Meatballs Rolling Out in Stores

As food traditions go, meatballs are old school. These ground beef spheres make an appearance in almost every culture on earth, dating all the way back to ancient Rome.

And while they may be delicious buried in spaghetti or stuffed into sub rolls, they’re also notoriously unhealthy (for cows and humans, alike).

Luckily, there’s an even better option hitting store shelves: Beyond Meat’s Beyond Beef Meatballs in Italian and Swedish.

These new-and-improved “meatballs” are 100% plant-based and way easier on cows, the environment and the heart health of humans.

PETA, for one, has given them rave reviews, Tweeting the following:

The meatballs are rolling out to Whole Foods and other grocery stores now, so start checking the freezer case and quizzing your local retailer. The first round of shipments went out on February 1st, says Bob Connolly, Beyond Meat’s VP of Marketing. Of course, it’ll take a few months for the product to “get a good footprint,” he adds.

If you don’t want to wait for the newest arrivals, the Beyond Meat meatballs are also available online. They run $6.79 per package via VeganEssentials.com.

In addition to these new releases, Beyond Meat also recently rolled out two protein-packed burger alternatives: the Beast Burger and Beastly Sliders. Despite its newness, the Beast Burger has already made history. As of February, it was the first meatless burger EVER to appear at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival’s annual Burger Bash.

(Oh, and if you need some creative ideas for your meaty balls, Buzzfeed has a lengthy list of ideas you could easily veganize.)
