This morning, Beyonce made an appearance (via video) on Good Morning America, officially announcing her love for a vegan diet.
The megastar has dabbled in veganism before, when she and hubby Jay Z opted into a 22-day plant-based experiment in 2013. The experience led to Beyonce’s collaboration with trainer Marco Borges to create 22 Days Nutrition, a meal delivery service.
The 33-year old said ahead of time that she was planning to release some “breaking news” via her appearance on the morning show. As evidenced on Twitter, some fans were seemingly disappointed by her announcement, while others made positive comments about her transition.
“I am not naturally the thinnest woman,” she said in the video. “I have curves, I’m proud of my curves. I have struggled since a young age with diets. Finding something that actually works, that actually keeps the weight off has been difficult for me.”
As she concluded: “…if a Houston-born foodie like me can do it, you can do it too.”
Officially counting Beyonce amongst the ranks of vegan-eating celebrities is a pretty big deal. She is Queen Bey, after all. Let’s hope her announcement creates lots of converts!
