Author Michael Pollan Says He’s ‘Almost’ Given Up on Eating Animals
Most known for his famous quote: “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.” — author Michael Pollan describes himself as a “reluctant carnivore.” (He is the author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma, after all.)
But things may be changing for the renowned journalist. In a recent interview with Terry Gross of NPR’s Fresh Air, Gross asked him if he’d given up on eating animals. His answer?
Almost.
Hallelujah!
That’s a pretty big deal from a dude who’s never been shy about his meat eating ways.
While he goes on to say that he continues to eat small amounts of animal based-foods from local farmers, the fact that he’s almost given it up altogether is significant.
The chat centered around Pollan’s new book (which isn’t about food per se, but does discuss humans’ connection with nature). It’s called How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us about Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence.
And again, while it’s not about food, it’s totally about plants! Mushrooms, ayahuasca, and other psychedelic “plant medicines” that are being hailed as potential solutions for the plague of addiction, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues currently facing human beings.
All in all, it’s an amazing interview. You can read the transcript or listen to it online or via podcast!

I heard that interview and thought the same thing! Amen!
